EWNS — Reframing a Known Warsaw Lounge to Reach a New Audience

Plenty of people in Russian-speaking Warsaw already knew EWNS — but mostly as a hookah spot and a place to sit and work. We rewrote what the ads said about the brand and put it in front of 196,374 new people, almost five times each.

Who EWNS is, and what they needed

EWNS is a venue that Russian-speaking Warsaw knows by heart. One location sits right in the center, the second next to Galeria Mokotów — so the same brand reaches two very different crowds: downtown freelancers and entrepreneurs, and the residential neighborhood next door. The room is cozy and beautifully designed, the kind of place where you settle in with a cocktail, eat well, and stay for hours. People come at lunch to work from a laptop, and the evenings fill up on their own.

That last part was the catch. Evenings were always busy with regulars, but the lunch hours sagged, and new guests were not showing up even though they knew the name. The brand had been boxed into a single idea in people's heads: a place where you smoke, not a place where you spend a warm evening with friends or with your partner. EWNS was a name plenty of people knew. Almost no one new was walking in.

How we planned the launch

We did two things at once: change what the ads said about the brand, and change who they reached.

On the creative side we pulled the smoke into the background. Less hookah, more of the food, the design, and the calm of the room. We moved away from the hookah-lounge framing and started showing a high-level venue with real service and a menu that keeps changing. Every creative leaned on three things: comfort, fair prices, and the look of the place.

  • Reach and frequency, not a one-off impression. We built the brand up to roughly four touchpoints with each person inside a 5–6 km radius around each location.
  • Spend on new people, not the fans. We added campaigns aimed at new followers and excluded the audience that was already loyal. The loyal crowd comes anyway, so the budget went toward people who had not walked in yet.
  • Dayparting to rescue the weak slot. Since lunches were the problem, we ran specific dayparts to push the daytime and pulled budget back on weekends so nothing was wasted. Around city events we doubled or tripled the daily budget.

Every creative was chosen from a clear read of the brand and its audience, so the message stayed consistent across both very different locations.

What four and a half months delivered

On about $3,500 of spend, EWNS reached 196,374 people and stayed in front of them.

  • 911,448 impressions at a $3.87 CPM.
  • 196,374 accounts reached at an average frequency of 4.64. The whole strategy was built on touchpoints — on average each person saw the brand nearly five times.
  • 19,857 link clicks at a $0.18 CPC and a 2.18% CTR — healthy engagement for a local hospitality brand.
  • 23,878 Instagram profile visits at $0.15 each.

The shift showed up where it counts. The owner reported the Mokotów location's revenue climbing week over week, daytime traffic improved, and the brand began reaching a steady flow of people who had never been in.

Why it worked, and how to repeat it

The interesting part of this case is that awareness was never the problem. EWNS was already famous in its circle. The problem was the single idea attached to the name.

So the lever was not “show more ads.” It was changing the story the ads told, and spending the budget on people outside the existing fan base instead of reminding the fans who already come. Add precise dayparting to rescue a specific weak slot, and steady frequency to make the new positioning stick, and the brand starts pulling a different, larger crowd.

This works for any business that is known but pigeonholed. If people think they already know what you are and that idea is too narrow, more reach will not fix it. Change what the creative says about you, exclude the audience that is already sold, and put the money in front of new people often enough that the new image lands. A clinic seen as “just injections,” a restaurant seen as “just lunch,” a studio seen as “just beginners” — the move is the same.
